Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 1, 2026 Last Updated: August 1, 2026

Welcome to Power Station Geek (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We operate https://www.powerstationgeek.com (the “Site”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal data you share with us.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website, read our generator reviews, use our comparison and sizing tools, or interact with our statistical database.

By using the site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of the site.

1. Information We Collect

A. Personal Data You Provide

Information you voluntarily give us when you subscribe to our newsletter, leave a review or comment, submit your own generator performance data, set a price drop alert, or contact us directly. This may include:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • User-submitted content (comments, generator test data, ratings, reviews)
  • Any other information you choose to include in a message to us

B. Automatically Collected Data

Information our servers and tools collect automatically when you access the site:

  • IP address (may be used to approximate general location, e.g., country or region)
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Referring URLs, access times, and pages viewed
  • Device type and unique device identifiers
  • Approximate location derived from IP address

C. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to operate core features (such as saved comparisons and price alerts), remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site. Categories include:

  • Strictly necessary cookies – required for core site functionality (e.g., comparison tool state, form submissions). These cannot be turned off without breaking site features.
  • Analytics cookies – help us understand aggregate traffic and usage patterns.
  • Advertising/affiliate cookies – set by third-party ad networks and affiliate programs to track referrals and serve relevant ads.

You can control or turn off most cookies through your browser settings. Turning off non-essential cookies will not block access to the site, but may turn off interactive features such as saved comparisons, sizing tool results, or price alerts. We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, as no common industry standard for interpreting them exists yet.

2. Third-Party Tools and Analytics

To operate and improve the site, we share limited data with third-party service providers:

  • Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, general geographic distribution, and site behavior, which helps us determine which generator models, guides, and tools are most useful to our audience. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Email/Newsletter Provider: If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored with our email service provider under their own security and privacy terms.
  • Hosting Provider: Our web host processes server-level data (such as IP addresses and access logs) as necessary to deliver the site to you.

3. Affiliate Disclosures and Advertising

Power Station Geek participates in affiliate marketing programs, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, as well as other third-party affiliate networks and display advertising platforms.

  • Affiliate Links: When you click a product link or recommendation and make a purchase, we may earn a referral commission at no additional cost to you. This never affects our review scores or recommendations – see our Editorial Policy for details.
  • Tracking: Affiliate networks use their own cookies to track and attribute purchases to our site. We do not control how these third parties use that data beyond attribution.
  • Display Ads: We may display third-party advertisements. Ad providers may use anonymized behavioral data to serve ads relevant to your interests. You can learn more about interest-based advertising and opt out of participating networks through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out tool or the Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out tool.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use collected data to:

  • Operate, update, and maintain our database of generator reviews, specs, and comparisons.
  • Provide and personalize tools such as the generator sizer, comparison charts, and price alerts.
  • Send newsletters, price alerts, or updates you’ve opted into.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide support.
  • Monitor traffic patterns, detect abuse, and prevent fraudulent or fake reviews.
  • Understand aggregate audience interests to improve site content.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy – for example, for as long as your newsletter subscription is active, or as needed to respond to a support request. Automatically collected log data is generally retained for a limited period for security and analytics purposes before being deleted or aggregated. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Section 7).

6. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We never sell, rent, or lease your personal data to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We only share information:

  • We have trusted service providers (such as our email host, web host, and analytics provider) who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • With affiliate and advertising networks, limited to tracking data necessary for referral attribution and ad delivery, as described above.
  • To comply with the law, in response to a valid legal request or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
  • In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights:

If you are in the European Economic Area (GDPR), we process your data based on your consent (e.g., newsletter sign-up), our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site, or as necessary to respond to your requests. You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, correct inaccurate data, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information – which may include data shared with advertising and analytics partners for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

All users, regardless of location, may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal data, and may opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 10.

8. Children’s Privacy

The site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us with personal information.

9. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
