Power Station Geek is reader-supported. This page explains exactly how that works, in plain terms, in compliance with FTC guidelines on affiliate marketing and endorsements.
1. We Earn Commissions from Some Links
Power Station Geek participates in affiliate marketing programs, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, as well as other retailer and affiliate network programs. When you click certain links on this site and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission – at no additional cost to you. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link.
2. Which Links Are Affiliate Links
Most outbound links to retailers (such as “Check Price,” “Buy Now,” or a retailer’s name/logo) on our reviews, comparison tables, and “Browse” pages are affiliate links. Not every link on the site is monetized – links to manufacturer manuals, certification bodies, or other informational sources generally are not.
3. This Never Affects Our Scores
This is the part that actually matters: affiliate relationships do not influence which products we review, how we score them, or what we recommend.
- Our review scores are calculated using the same 10-category Methodology for every unit, before we ever check what commission rate a product’s affiliate program pays.
- No manufacturer or retailer can pay for a better score, a featured placement, or a guaranteed positive review. See our full Editorial Policy for how we enforce this.
- A generator or power station that scores poorly stays scored poorly, regardless of its affiliate payout.
4. How Commissions Are Tracked
When you click an affiliate link, a cookie or tracking parameter is placed by the retailer or affiliate network, not by us directly, to attribute the resulting purchase to our site. This tracking is typically time-limited (often 24 hours to 30 days, depending on the program) and does not identify you personally to us. 5. Review Samples and Manufacturer Relationships
From time to time, we may receive a review unit on loan or early access from a manufacturer. When this happens:
- It is disclosed directly on the relevant review.
- It has no bearing on the unit’s score – we do not guarantee a positive review in exchange for a sample.
- We do not accept payment or other consideration in exchange for a guaranteed positive review, and advertisers never review or approve editorial content before publication.
6. Why We Disclose This
We’re required to disclose it under FTC guidelines governing endorsements and affiliate marketing, and we’d do so regardless – a review site that hides its financial relationships isn’t one worth trusting. If you ever think a review is influenced by anything other than the process described in our Methodology and Editorial Policy, we want to hear about it.
