My Quick Verdict
The Nexus is not a power station with a battery. It is an inverter that runs on EGO’s 56-volt tool batteries, and that changes the value calculation entirely.
If you already own EGO equipment, the batteries are free. Four 7.5 Ah packs give 840 Wh, and the same packs still run your mower and blower.
Two thousand watts continuous with a 3,000-watt peak is genuinely strong output, 86% conversion is good, and Bluetooth with Wi-Fi app monitoring is more than most tool brands bother with.
One design decision limits it badly. The inverter shuts off entirely while the unit is charging from the wall, so it cannot supply anything and refill at the same time.
Best for: Existing EGO owners who want jobsite or outage power from batteries already in the garage.
Not for: Anyone outside the EGO ecosystem or anyone who needs the unit to run while charging.
